Mental illness still viewed as a sign of weakness

New data shows 40 per cent of Canadians say they’ve experienced feelings of anxiety or depression — but haven’t sought medical help.

“People, despite everything, see it as a sign of weakness,” said Dr. Valerie Taylor, psychiatrist-in-chief, department of medicine at Women’s College Hospital and a scientist at Women’s College Research Institute.
