Lea Vares Greenwood

Lea is a professional social worker with 30 years experience and with a reputation for having expertise in dealing with health promotion, community and program development, peer-support / mentoring, and program marketing.

 

Her areas of professional impact include: 15 years of clinical work in Community Mental Health; abolishing sexual exploitation of children with Toronto Police Sex Crimes Unit; implementing the Operational Stress Injury Program with General Romeo Dallaire and the department of National Defence; establishing a patient services program for newly diagnosed blood cancer patients in Ontario with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and she worked as a research analyst with the University of Toronto, Faculty of Medicine.

 

Over the years she has served on a multitude of Boards of Directors both in Mental Health and Cancer sectors.
Currently Lea is the Executive Director of Bayview Community Services which provides housing and case management to adults with serious and prolonged mental illness.
